Babes is a nice little sports bar in Richardson. They've got one of the best stages in town as far as accoustics go, although the stage has some loose boards which cause my microphone to swing back and forth when I start hoppin' around.
They have several pool tables, a very nice row of dart boards, shuffleboard, pinball, air hockey, a fooseball table, a ping-pong table (when the band is not playing... it's in the middle of the dance floor), and a bunch of TV's with all kinds of sports on.
They've got Shiner Bock on tap, but forget anything darker. The food is pretty good, too. Mickie bought Babes from Laurie (of Salute, Skillman Street Pub and Moose & Vinnie's) in 1996 and she is an excellent club owner--knows all the regulars, takes care of business. The night manager, Jet, will soon be one of your favorite people if he's not already.
Cover is usually $3 on weekends. Bands start at 9:30 and go until 1:30.
To get to Babe's, go west on Arapaho from I75 (Arapaho exit is about 3 miles north on I75 from 635). Babe's is in the Camelot Village shopping center which is on the north side of Arapaho about a mile from I75. There is a SuperShops facing the street. Or, you can look at a map of how to get there.
